Moody River

(Oil: 24X36)

Moody River

Several months ago I was doing some crossword puzzles. In my mind, I began to see a scene appear in waves and the only way I can describe it is to offer up the example of time lapse photography. The scene began with the sky and as my mood changed the rest of it was layered in waves...in my mind. When my gloomy mood released its grip...I quickly sketched the scene I had seen with my mind's eye. I set the sketch aside and let it be until the day I would take it up and paint it.

While watching televised news, there were several reports of someone losing a loved one. Almost always, there was someone in tears being interviewed about their loss or someone was taped while in tears and at a loss for words. Later I came across a photo that reminded me of the news reports as well as the crying young children being taken away from parents at the border. My mind’s eye began to form this painting and as I began painting it…my mind’s eye guided me on how to present Anguish.
